FIRST Construction Council hosts the 6th Annual EQUIPMENT INDIA Awards 2018

Deepak Garg, Director and CEO, SANY Heavy Industry India was adjudged EQUIPMENT INDIA Person of the Year 12 BESTSELLER winners in various construction equipment categories honoured BEML, Caterpillar and Tata Hitachi win two awards each

The 6th Annual EQUIPMENT INDIA Awards 2018 hosted by the FIRST Construction Council was held in New Delhi on October 25, 2018. In a glittering award ceremony held at Hotel Taj Palace, Deepak Garg, Director and CEO, SANY Heavy Industry India received the ‘Equipment India Person of the Year’ for 2018 from Sandeep Singh, Managing Director, Tata Hitachi Construction Machinery Company, who is the last year’s winner of EQUIPMENT INDIA Person of the Year. Garg was chosen for the honour by an eminent eight-member jury for his contribution towards his organisation’s aggressive growth in the country in the past year. He was instrumental in bringing SANY to No. 1 in mobile cranes and piling rigs in India. He has also made SANY India the fastest growing company in the construction equipment industry in India.

Receiving the award, Garg said, “I am thankful to our customers to have trust and confidence in our brand and products. It was not easy for us to get this trust and confidence because we had to actually struggle a lot to get the brand imbibed into the industry in India. I thank all our customers for the trust and driving us to this heights in India.” He also thanked the financiers and dealers for having the confidence in the brand and helping the company grow over the years.

Forecasting the growth of the construction equipment industry, Pratap Padode, Founder & President, FIRST Construction Council said, “Sales of construction units are expected to rise from 76,000units in 2018 to 120,000 units by 2021 taking the $5 billion industry to well above $9 billion. Speed breakers on the way include the elections and the switch over from manufacturing of BS CEV III, which will stop from October 1, 2020, to BS CEV IV rollout.”

EQUIPMENT INDIA Awards were also presented in 12 Bestseller product categories. The winners are: CASE India in Compactors; JCB India in Backhoe Loaders; Action Construction Equipment in Mobile Cranes; BEML in Crawler Dozers and Rigid Dump Trucks; Caterpillar India in Wheeled Loaders and Motor Graders; Doosan Bobcat India in Skid-steer Loaders; Ammann India in Asphalt Finishers; Tata Hitachi Construction Machinery Co in Crawler Excavators and Mini Excavators; and Atlas Copco in Mobile Compressors.

The Special Guest at the event, Bhavna Saxena, IPS, Special Commissioner, Economic Development Board, Andhra Pradesh, praised all the winners for their efforts and hard work in achieving newer heights in their respective segments.

India Construction Festival 2018

The 6th Annual EQUIPMENT INDIA Awards 2018 was held as part of a two-day event, India Construction Festival 2018, which comprised 8th India Roads Conference, Construction World/ENR Global Awards, Construction World/ENR Leadership Summit and the Infrastructure Today/ENR Global Leaders Forum. Industry stakeholders from the global construction industry gathered on one platform of this two-day global event to discuss and deliberate the trends and scenario of global construction and infrastructure market. Shri Suresh Prabhu, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, was the Chief Guest at the function. Addressing the audience, Shri Suresh Prabhu lauded the efforts of the construction industry in contributing towards India’s GDP growth. He said, “India is already known to be among the fastest growing large economies and continues to grow at a fast pace. For this, we require to build more infrastructure projects including roads, ports along with many more houses. That said, construction is going to play a vital role in India’s economy.”

FIRST Construction Council is a non-profit infrastructure think-tank, focused on providing the latest updates on the construction industry in India, and dedicated to promoting its causes and needs. FCC is associated with numerous leading business publications in India, and with a combined reach of over 10,00,000, is strongly placed to disseminate knowledge and ideas to relevant stakeholders across the country. For the last 15 years, FIRST (Foundation of Infrastructure Research Studies Training) has been involved in research on infrastructure, and has published white papers on policy, reports, newsletters, and financial models to evaluate competitiveness in the industry. The FCC aims to carry on this work, and provide a platform to promote the adoption of best practices, and be the torchbearer for all policy initiatives that are needed to enhance the importance and welfare of the construction industry and its industry’s unified voice.
