First edition of India Design Confluence inaugurated by Anar Patel

More than 4000 students participate across the country
India’s
newest symposium to converse, elaborate and structure ‘Design and Innovation’
is here. The first edition of the three-day event of ‘India Design Confluence
(IDC) 2018’ is calling all the creatively inclined folks to gather and
celebrate thinking, exploring and collaborating.Slated from November 23-25,
2018 at the United World Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, this creative
conclave inaugurated by Mrs. Anar Patel, Founder, Craftroots, Managing Trustee,
Gramshree.
Prepped
with inspirational talks, experiential workshops, paper presentations, networking
and innovative thinking, ‘India Design Confluence (IDC) 2018’ is the most
awaited and much needed ‘Design Show’ for the community that eat, breathes and
sleeps designing. So far IDC 2018 has already received an amazing response with
more than 2000 registration from students and professionals together.
November
23 will see eminent speakers like Manjri Varde, Contemporary Artist; Revathi
Kant, Chief Design Officer, Titan Company Limited; and Peter Bil'ak, Graphic
& Typeface Designer interact with the audience from 11am to 1pm.The
afternoon session of 2pm to 4pm will have JoAnna Almasude, Executive Director,
The Red cART;Anar Patel, Founder, Craftroots, Managing Trustee, Gramshree and Amitabh
Shrivastav, Founder, The Art Kommune talk on topics that will transverse design
and innovation across the globe. In the evening, panel discussions on ‘LOL by
Preeti Das’ and ‘EDM with Progressive Brothers’ is scheduled to trigger
constructive exchange of viewpoints, and to address topics falling within the
range of conference’s themes.
The dialogue at IDC 2018 will cover subjects
like Animation, Visual Communication, Interior Design, Architecture, Automobile
Design, Product Design, Jewellery Design, Lifestyle & Accessory Design, Photography,
Fine Arts and Fashion.

Design Confluence 2018 will also have live performances like fashion shows,
live music, and stand-up comedy on all three days to keep the visitors engaged
and entertained. Another interesting part of IDC includes the initiative to
revive craft traditions of India by hosting a Craft Village that will showcase
handcrafted products created by using age-old techniques by the finest artisans
of India.

platform for designers to not just learn and connect but showcase their
ideation and efforts too. We are aimed at collaborating and creating
opportunities for design enthusiasts and bringing everyone on the same page.
For the first edition of IDC, we are expecting a minimum of 6000 entrants and
hope that the audiences make complete use of this opportunity.â€
Dr Deepak Shishoo, Provost, Karnavati
University shares that, “We have not been able to put Ahmedabad
on the design map of the country. When you think of design, you first think of
Bombay, then Pune then Delhi or Bangalore. But Ahmedabad despite having the
oldest institutes, Gujarat has two old institutes, one fine arts in MS Baroda
and NID in Ahmedabad. But it has never been a part of the design culture.
Ahmedabad has never been on the design map and we wanted to put it on the map.
Secondly, if you look at the sponsors and speakers, it covers all aspects,
branches and angles of design, including town planning, architecture and
typography. We also have a person from Bentleys talking about the car
interiors. We have gone to that level, collected everyone who matter.
He added that,
“For the first time it's not for
the students and teachers only. It's also for the people who matter in this
field and that is the confluence. We are bringing every group that matters
together on a single platform for a period of 3 days and have sessions. Every
session is followed by Q&As and there are panel discussions every day. Some
sessions are followed by workshops. In a way we are trying to bring everything
together on a single platform. Our main aim is to bring Ahmedabad on the design
map. The confluence is for everyone who matters or wants to learn in this
field.â€
