Annual programme at Janki Devi Memorial College

New Delhi, 10 March 2018: Sankalan -2018 is an annual event presented by  Janki Devi Vocational Centre (JDVC)  in support  of women Empowerment. The show was divided in two parts. The first part was an Exhibition in which students of Interior  and Fine art participated with their competitive creativity product and other departments displayed their work.  Beautiful use of colours and canvas by fine arts students enhances the charm of an exhibition. Interior designing students visualised the product according to demand of market and developed them with best of their knowledge. The second part was fashion show where students of Fashion designing department displayed their creative skills by designing garment and showcased them on the ramp.  In this show all the activities from designing, garments, choreography, Music, Light etc. was in house initiative and organised by students themselves which was witnessed by jury members from Art, Fashion, Architect and Interior designing world. The show also showcased different cultural activities like Dance, Theatre. This year JDVC students was also showcased the Dance form of various Indian States like :- Punjab, Maharashtra, Bengal and Rajasthan. 

 

The Theatre Society -"Abhivyakti" in collaboration with Asmita Theatre Group presented two plays- "Dastak" based on atrocity against women and "Budhapa" - dedicated to our Senior citizens.

The outstanding talent of the students and the training that they obviously receive, is visible to all. The designing by the students at the fashion show and the live performance, all add up to a mesmerising time. The exhibits by the students are a sight for sore eyes. I am sure that this year too, we will be enchanted by the collection and I am sure that there will be some surprises! Janki Devi Vocational Centre was set up more than 38 years ago with an aim to impart among students training for various skills.  The Centre offers skill oriented vocational courses to meet the human resource requirements of diversifying economy.  Our aim is to impart in young girls the capability and confidence to play an active role in the society. Janki Devi Vocational Centre was set up with an objective “Commitment to improve the future of Women”. This commitment coupled with our quest for excellence has spurred our growth and led us into the twenty first Century. We at JDVC are alive not only to the present needs of our country but also to the emerging challenges of the future. Continuous improvement has been the mainstay of our existence for the past 36 years. The centre is positive about providing the best and up-to-date training to its students. The courses have been designed to meet the two-fold requirements of young girls.

The first requirement is Manpower Development. Change in work procedures, innovations through adoption of science and technology, increased use of computers, etc. make it absolutely necessary to have skilled manpower who are able to fit into the current work environment. We at JDVC are constantly upgrading our syllabi based on feed-back from the industry and alumni. Computer Software Engineering & Applications. Secretarial Practice and Office, Management, N.T.T., Fashion Design Technology, Textile Design, Interior Designing, Fine Art, Garment Manufacturing Technology, Media, Travel & Tourism are some of the Diploma/Certificate courses offered at our center. In continuation of our endeavour to provide the best we have collaborated with RDA Overseas (Mirror Group) to impart training in Beauty Culture  Courses. Moving Media Workshop, School of Media Studies for Journalism & Media Courses and Delhi Collage of Art for Fine Art Courses. These courses will benefit students with professional training & internship, enabling them to get experience even before they are awarded diplomas. The second requirement is the preparation for lifeModern society has become increasingly complex. Young girls are now expected to possess social and interpersonal skills along with family management skills. Home Science, Personality Development, Art & Craft, Food Craft & Home Decoration etc. are few such courses. Skills gained from these are now increasingly being used to set up small business ventures from home.

11:30- 12:30 – PLAY IN ASSOCIATION WITH ASMITA THEATRE GROUP

                           DIRECTED BY MR. ARVIND GAUR.

1:00 P.M. ONWARDS – FASHION SHOW.
