The Ã¢â‚¬Ëœgreatest literary show on Earth’ is all set to welcome visitors for its 13th edition. With a line-up of renowned speakers from India and across the world, the Jaipur Literature Festival is a platform unlike any other for those passionate about literature, the arts, and culture.

The Festival returns with its 13th edition from 23rd Ã¢â‚¬â€œ 27th January 2020 and will witness the coming together of the world’s greatest writers, thinkers, humanitarians, politicians, business leaders and entertainers on one stage.  The unmatched celebration of literature in Jaipur, Rajasthan will give enthusiasts unparalleled access to some of the most famous personalities of the literary world.  

Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Pink City, the Jaipur Literature Festival has become an annual melting pot of literature, curated art installations and mesmerising music performances. At the Festival, attendees can enjoy the perfect harmony of literature, music, art and food for five unforgettable days. 

To make one’s visit to the feisty grand dame of literature festivals even more memorable, Festival organisers offer a special ‘Delegate Experience’ that promises an exclusive experience coupled with warm hospitality.

 

The Delegate Experience offers access to an exclusive and well-appointed Delegate Lounge where Delegates can relax, network and perhaps meet Festival speakers over tea, coffee and lunch; special sessions where Delegates get priority seating; live music performances at the Jaipur Music Stage held in Hotel Clarks Amer and official Festival merchandise; they also get invited to a cultural evening at an iconic and historic venue in Jaipur and to an evening of cocktails at the Delegate Lounge. Packages are priced at Rs.6, 300 for a single day, Rs.11, 300 for two days, Rs.15, 800 for three days, Rs.19, 800 for four days and Rs.23, 800 for five days and Rs.3, 800 for the last day only.

The past decade has seen it transform into a global literary phenomenon having hosted nearly 2000 speakers and welcoming over a million book lovers from across India and the globe.

 

The Festival’s core values remain unchanged: to serve as a democratic, non-aligned platform offering free and fair access.

 

Every year, the Festival brings together a diverse mix of the world’s greatest writers, thinkers, humanitarians, politicians, business leaders, sports people and entertainers on one stage to champion the freedom to express and engage in thoughtful debate and dialogue.

 

Writers and Festival Directors Namita Gokhale and William Dalrymple, alongside producers Teamwork Arts, invite speakers to take part in the five-day programme set against the backdrop of Rajasthan’s stunning cultural heritage and the Diggi Palace in the state capital Jaipur.

 

Past speakers have ranged from Nobel Laureates J.M. Coetzee, Orhan Pamuk and Muhammad Yunus, Man Booker Prize winners Ian McEwan, Margaret Atwood and Paul Beatty, Sahitya Akademi winners Girish Karnad, Gulzar, Javed Akhtar, M.T. Vasudevan Nair as well as the late Mahasweta Devi and U.R. Ananthamurthy along with literary superstars including Amish Tripathi, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Vikram Seth. An annual event that goes beyond literature, the Festival has also hosted Amartya Sen, Amitabh Bachchan, the late A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Oprah Winfrey, Stephen Fry, Thomas Piketty and former president of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai.

 

The Jaipur Literature Festival is a flagship event of Teamwork Arts, which produces it along with over 25 highly acclaimed performing arts, visual arts and literary festivals across more than 40 cities globally.

 

Over the years, Teamwork Arts has produced JLF at The British Library, JLF at Boulder, JLF at Houston, JLF at New York and JLF in Adelaide.

  • Festival Dates Ã¢â‚¬â€œ The Jaipur Literature Festival 2020 is scheduled to take place from 23rd–27th January at the Diggi Palace Hotel, Jaipur Rajasthan.
