After the resounding success of the previous years, the popular Jaipur Literature Festival Blogging Competition is back! With the 2020 Blogging Competition, Festival producer Teamwork Arts invites bloggers to be a part of the ‘greatest literary show on Earth’ in its 13th edition as ‘Official Festival Bloggers’.
The Jaipur Literature Festival 2020 Blogging Competition presents an opportunity for writers to submit creative pieces on shortlisted themes. The best entries received will be published on the Festival website, leading up to the event.
The Festival asks people (over 18 years old) to send in a piece of their best work on themes decided by the Festival producer to compete for a place as a published blogger. A total of 6 applicants, shortlisted from among the most promising entries, will get a chance to travel to Jaipur and be ‘official bloggers’ for the Jaipur Literature Festival 2020 for the entire duration of the Festival. Interested applicants can submit creative or critical pieces on the themes - Environment, Economy, Politics, and Gender & Equal Rights. To participate in the competition, each person can submit a maximum of three entries until the deadline. If an entry is selected to be featured on the website, no further entries from the entrant will be accepted. The contest opens today (20th November 2019) and the deadline to submit entries is 15th December 2019. Entries chosen on the longlist will be announced on 6th January 2020 and those on the final shortlist on 10th January 2020.

Writers and Festival Directors Namita Gokhale and William Dalrymple, alongside producer Teamwork Arts, invite speakers to take part in the five-day programme set against the backdrop of Rajasthan’s stunning cultural heritage and the Diggi Palace in the state capital Jaipur.
Past speakers have ranged from Nobel Laureates J.M. Coetzee, Orhan Pamuk and Muhammad Yunus, Man Booker Prize winners Ben Okri, Margaret Atwood and Paul Beatty, Sahitya Akademi winners Gulzar, Javed Akhtar, M.T. Vasudevan Nair as well as the late Girish Karnad, Mahasweta Devi and U.R. Ananthamurthy along with literary superstars including Amish Tripathi, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Vikram Seth. An annual event that goes beyond literature, the Festival has also hosted Amartya Sen, Amitabh Bachchan, the late A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Oprah Winfrey, Stephen Fry, Thomas Piketty and former president of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai.
